NAVY LODGE ADAPTIVE RE-USE & HISTORIC REHABILITATION (DESIGN-BUILD)

The Navy Lodge Design-Build project at Ford Island, US Naval Station Pearl Harbor converted a historically significant former BOQ structure (Building 78) to a lodging facility with 55 rooms, lobby, front desk, meeting room, and associated support spaces. Air conditioning and a fire sprinkler system were added. Restoration of this 1939 vintage building maintains the historic architecture of its C. W. Dickey design in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.

A new three-story building, constructed nearby, contains an additional 95 guestrooms. Its design echoes the strong horizontal lines of the historic structure. A small structure on the site, which previously housed boilers, was converted to an in-house laundry. A new swimming pool and parking lot were provided and a small existing parking lot was refurbished.
